![]() I'd add to it by saying that while it's a popular tactic to abandon tons of land and then turtle in spain/italy you should only really be abandoning Illyria/Pannonia and possibly Tripoltania if the North African tribes really hate you. Also FIGHT ASK DEFENSIVE SIEGE BATTLES MANUALLY!! You will win 9/10 even against overwhelming odds ![]() They will remain very loyal allies and fight barbarians for you until you're ready to re-absorbs them. ![]() Finally any new rebel factions that emerge you should conqure and subjugate before they take a second territory. Make certain towns your "boarder towns" with large garrisons. Go through each province and start demoing all nonessential buildings, this should help initial public order and give a boost of income. Anything north our east of the alps you might lose, but it's ok you can get them back later. Developer them first and DO NOT LOSE THEM. Spain north Africa and Italy ate your must wealthy provinces. Don't use/lose the cav to early, especially with overwhelming odds against. Wait till all enemy are engaged and rear charge with scout riders. Even with the small garrisons of 4 units you can beat full 20 stacks of barbarian junkies. The biggest thing is you have to fight every battle. Also, sorry if this is done wrong, first time on reddit and what not. Strategically speaking, how did you handle the collapse of the WRE at the beginning? I am thinking of pulling right back to Italia/Magna Grecia and basically defending the Eternal City, I need little else to build back up, though that leads me to another question, do the waves at the beginning (leading up to 400ad) cease or slow down at all? However, playing the game for a few hours so far, I've noticed that a lot of the bugs and things people modded in or out of Rome II are already in the base game of Attila, so which, if any mods to do you recommend? My question is multi faceted but relatively simple - what is the best way to go about starting this campaign, as the WRE? When playing Rome II, I had played Vanilla for quite a while before jumping over to various mods, I enjoyed Radious Mod though it took away from the realism I felt and some of the difficulty with maxing army sizes and slashing upkeep and what not - the DeI mod was fantastic and I've looked into Fall Of The Eagle for Attila. I started as the WRE, and the family system is all new to me, politics is crazy, public order is fragile and continually plummeting, the Eagle is half of what it was before and I'm ravaged on every side, hardly the burgeoning Empire I had built five hundred years earlier. However, I loved Rome II through it's release til the Emperor Edition, it's in my opinion a great game (though many disagree) and I had a lot of fun expanding my empire outwards to the far reaches of the known world.Īttila seems like a whole new beast. I'm new to the TW series, having sunk just over 600hrs into Rome II and a hundred or so into Shogun (I know, my priorities are wack,) I can't say I'm by any stretch of the imagination a veteran player.
